His grave/memorial reference is Panel 42, Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial

John died of wounds sustained at the battle of Ypres.

Note: He was a Corporal in the Connaught Rangers 2nd Battalion (formerly 4th Battalion), his service number was3947.  The 2nd Battalion landed at Boulogne on the 14th of August 1914.

He was killed in action

Note: He was a Private in the Connaught Rangers 5th Battalion, his service number was 3950.  His body was recovered by his brother Patrick, also a private in the Rangers.  His grave/memorial reference is A 25 at the Serain Communal Cemetery extension, France.
