I received a Declaration of Intention that the donor thought might be of interest to the Sweeney family from Culleens in Co. Sligo and consider it might be a nice idea to add this type of tit-bit for future interest to the site:

Herewith first one:

Here's a declaration of an Irish canal worker who came from Culleens and worked on the Wabash & Erie Canal. Donated by Mike Sweeney of Yakima Washington who doesn't think he's related to his Sweeney's who came from Letterkenny, Donegal.

Wabash County, Indiana Circuit Court 12 Sep 1837  Declaration of Intentions:

Michael SWEENEY (spelled Swinney in court record) born in province of Connought, Co. Sligo, town of Culleens, is about 21 years of age, grey eyes and fair complexion.  Emigrated from Sligo and landed in Buffalo, New York in the fall of 1835.  Intends to settle in the state of Indiana.

  Michael Flannelly of Moorland age 22 married Anne Reynolds (21) of Ballynahowna at the RC Chapel Kilmacshalgan on June 20th 1878.
